Matted "Sunlit Winter Day"

Sunlit Winter Day
10x14
Watercolor
$190

Some winter days are so beautiful, especially when you have been cooped up in the house for a while. And, sometimes, when you get to walk down the long boardwalk to the beach at Plum Island in the Parker River Wildlife Preserve, you see combinations of sunlight trees, sand dunes and grasses that are just lovely. This was one of those days. This lovely place is near Newburyport, MA, another favorite spot, and I am 25 minutes from each of them. Very lucky!

PLum Island #2 - Just Mowed

Plum Island #2 - Just Mowed
12x12
Oil on cradled panel
$325

The same day I painted Plum Island #1 (posted yesterday) I painted this picture at the Parker River Wildlife Preserve at Plum Island. I just looked right instead of left, same spot. The fields had just been mowed, probably a control of some kind in this wildlife refuge, and there were wet spots in the foreground as well as the waterway behind. What at first seemed rather plain and simple, became one of my favorites.

Plum Island: Waiting for Wildlife

Plum Island #1: Waiting for Wildlife
12x12
Oil on Cradled Panel
$325

Plum Island is a wonderful National Wildlife Refuge in Newburyport, MA. Click the link for some beautiful photos of it. I go there many times - to paint, to photoghaph the beauty, to walk the beach, to think, and just to eat my lunch. This is an overlook of a lovely watercourse and there is almost always some avian wildlife here. But not the day I painted, hence the title....
