Colton Pond

Colton Pond
Oil on Panel
12x24
$440

Every now and then I travel to Vermont, where I lived ten years and revisit favorite sites and find new ones for painting. This is a lovely pond near the confluence of the Appalacian Trail and the Long Trail.

Framed "Poison Ivy Rocks"

Poison Ivy Rocks
12x24
Oil on Panel
Gold frame
$565

I was painting with a friend at the Cox Reservation, which is the headquarters of Essex County Greenbelt, a nature conservation area , and a great supporter of artists. The view there is absolutely spectacular and I had painted it several times, including the view of Spring Marsh, posted on this site on May 9th, 2012. Well, I just didn't want to do it that day, but my friend did. So I turned around with my back to the view and found the most beautiful....poison ivy! I painted it with the rocks and just loved it.

Framed "Rockport Rooflines

Rockport Rooflines
12x24
oil on prepared panel
framed in gold
$525

I'm still in Rockport. The red building is Motif #1, so called because it has been painted so many times. They even have a festival for it.  I've done my share of paintings with the building in sight. After a long morning painting, I had put all my paints away and was sitting on a bench overlooking the harbor to eat my lunch and relax. There was no rest for me because I was drawn into the amazing interplay of all the rooflines in my view. I like the overall feeling of the piece, very fresh and free and colorful and I like the masts of the pirate ship behind the building.!

"Coastal Sunrise #1 (Promise)"

"Coastal Sunrise #1 (Promise)"
Oil on Panel
12x24
Sold

This piece, the first of the Coastal Sunrise Series, is the first stage of several paintings from a spectacular sunrise. A long format makes it even more dramatic, and it was a struggle to get the center area as smooth and still as the upper and lower areas are dramatic.

This piece is available as a giclee at my store. Click here to visit the site.
