I saved the best for last. Well, maybe I can't say that; I have several favorites! This piece uses two non-typical horticultural items available at holiday time. This is one of a series of holly and poinsettias images from my "A Year in Bloom" series that I have used for years to make holiday cards from. I am finally willing to let them go. I think godetias are beautiful flowers. Not quite a rose, not quite a lily but with the softness of the rose and the structure of the lily, and a delicacy that I love. I enjoyed doing these two with the various shades of white.


This piece is archivally matted to 12x14 for a nice presentation. This image, as are the other small florals, is part of "A Year in Bloom" a series of 365 paintings I created one year. Many of these images are available as blank cards, and I have 10 card sets (sets of 5 different blank cards) available on Etsy.

I just love anemones when it comes to painting......They are dramatic with that black center, have a great structure of interesting petals going every which way, and cool curly leaves. I painted thm frequently when I was doing the series "A Year in Bloom" This one is one of my favorites and is from the classic Pink Ribbon Collection of cards, the first set created. 

"A Year in Bloom" was a floral series that I did while I lived in Vermont. I created 365 paintings of flowers, with about 85% of them oils and the rest watercolor. The images were used to create series of cards and you can see them on line. This piece is part of the pink ribbon set, a set with a great sense of spring coming in.  See the pink ribbon collection by clicking here. Single cards are also available; see them here. Each card has an individually hand-glued mini print of a floral from the series.
