I saved the best for last. Well, maybe I can't say that; I have several favorites! This piece uses two non-typical horticultural items available at holiday time. This is one of a series of holly and poinsettias images from my "A Year in Bloom" series that I have used for years to make holiday cards from. I am finally willing to let them go. I think that will help me to make new ones next year! A purchaser will receive a few of the cards from the series as a gift. 

I am participating in the Hurricane Sandy fundraiser through Daily Paintworks. Artists donate a painting for auction and all profits go to Hurricane relief. I am currently looking for the best place to send funds and am open to suggestions.
The piece I am entering is now on auction. The minimum bid of $150 is far below the regular price of $470 so you are likely to get a good deal! The location pictured is at Colton Pond in Vermont, along rte.100 just past the intersection of rte. 4 and rte.100. A nice quiet and beautiful place to stop for a picnic! Long range views of the mountains and a very private setting. I was the only car there the day I painted this. It is a good sized piece at 12"x25"

This sweetheart misses his owner.
Torn by the horrific events in Newtown, Connecticut, I didn't know what to do or how to respond. I decided to think of the view of the toys, whose owners will never come home again. This is the first one I painted. For this one, I will donate all of the funds raised to an appropriate source to help the bereaved families of the beloved children who were lost.

I just love anemones when it comes to painting......They are dramatic with that black center, have a great structure of interesting petals going every which way, and cool curly leaves. I painted thm frequently when I was doing the series "A Year in Bloom" This one is one of my favorites and is from the classic Pink Ribbon Collection of cards, the first set created. 

"A Year in Bloom" was a floral series that I did while I lived in Vermont. I created 365 paintings of flowers, with about 85% of them oils and the rest watercolor. The images were used to create series of cards and you can see them on line. This piece is part of the pink ribbon set, a set with a great sense of spring coming in.  See the pink ribbon collection by clicking here. Single cards are also available; see them here. Each card has an individually hand-glued mini print of a floral from the series. I will always remember those fairy roses because someone brought them to us as a wedding gift, and they stood on either side of the "aisle" we walked down on across the grass by our pond, to get to the minister. Later I planted them in the garden and I loved the lack of maintenance. Good thing too, as they are very prickery! I liked the leaves too; I haven't grown nicotania (flowering tobacco) since, but it is a plant with PRESENCE. Big leaves and white flowers that reach for the sky.

I have just lowered all starting bids on my paintings that are up for auction! Normal selling price is $190 for an oil painting that is framed and double matted archivally.
