This gorgeous piece is a show stopper for such a small piece. The sense of the rays reaching down to the sea is almost spiritual. This is one of 15 plein aire paintings I did in one week in at Goose Rocks beach in Kennebunkport, Maine in September, working on an enclosed porch at the crack of dawn. Because of the enclosure, I could set up the easel, lights for the easel and for the palette and be ready, coffee cup in hand for the first rays, and I never knew what the morning would bring - simple clear color stripes? a storm? and sometimes I got something like this.
