Color Study after Connie Hayes, #3

Color Study after Connie Hayes, #3

Another interesting color study from Connie Hayes. The red just glows and I love the way the glow of the gold seems to soften everything.

This is the color study from the back of Connie's book, a very unusual one, very exciting. Don't you just love the violet? I do.

Color Study after Connie Hayes #1

Color Study After Connie Hayes #1
5x7
Oil on Arches Oil Paper
$25

A small color study done form the amazing photo on the cover of her book. As with the other artists I admired, I copied her colors and proportions but not her subject matter. The mixes of colors that take her away from "crayola" type ones and just amazing. I learn every time I look at her work.

Belfast Sunrise

Belfast Sunrise
Beautifully framed and deep matted
10x10 framed to 16x16
oil on prepared paper

The owner gave me one right on the beach when I told her I was an artistand I did this painting from that porch. I had just attended a lecture by one of my  inspirations, Connie Hayes, the night before and used one of her ideas in this one and I loved how it came out.

Here is how the piece looks framed:
