Framed "Poison Ivy Rocks"

Poison Ivy Rocks
12x24
Oil on Panel
Gold frame
$565

I was painting with a friend at the Cox Reservation, which is the headquarters of Essex County Greenbelt, a nature conservation area , and a great supporter of artists. The view there is absolutely spectacular and I had painted it several times, including the view of Spring Marsh, posted on this site on May 9th, 2012. Well, I just didn't want to do it that day, but my friend did. So I turned around with my back to the view and found the most beautiful....poison ivy! I painted it with the rocks and just loved it.

Framed "Red, White, and Blue"

"Red, White, and Blue"
Oil on canvas
12x12
Gold Frame
$375

I decided to paint in Newburyport, one of my favorite nearby places. It's a traditional seafaring town, with gorgeous sea-captain homes lining High Street and more. It's also become a tourist attraction and a popular place to live. Click the link on Newburyport for pictures. I set up in the town square, a very lively place. All around me were interesting storefronts, people, flowerboxes. What did I land on as what I wanted to paint? The roof of the Maritine museum with its flag against the dramatic clouds. The title works on two levels - the obvious, plus the building colors. I think I love roofs. And flags.

Framed "Hancock Wharf"

Hancock Wharf
12x12
Oil on Canvas
Gold Frame
$375

Now I am moving up the coast and going to one of my (sort of) local painting spots. I just love this spot in York, Maine. The building pictured is the museum at the John Hancock Wharf, where he did his business. Nearby is the George Marshall Store. This is a historic building - the original store that sold the goods that came in to be unloaded onto the Hancock wharf, and other items. Now it is a wonderful contemporary art gallery, showing rising and established regional artists. Both of these sit on the banks of the York river, a lovely setting with a big wide dock. All this 40 minutes from my home!I have painted here several times.

The Red Skiff
12x12
Oil on Canvas

This is my favorite breakfast place in Rockport. When I go there I love to go very early and get a good free parking spot! So after I arrive, I treat myself to breakfast at the Red Skiff. All your favorites. This is a plein aire painting. Luckily, I painted this before all the cars parked in front!

I thought maybe you were getting bored with all those skies so it's time to see another line of my art. Bearskin Neck is the famous shopping street in Rockport, Massachusetts. Lots of really quaint shops, many flowers, shoppers, lobster and clams, strudel, ice cream, and sea views.
